My evaluation

The most important thing which I studied in the class is the benefit
of the citation and the paraphrasing beside the plagiarism which is the main
topic of this course. Although I became so bored about writing on one topic
.The most challenge to me, it is the digital story because it makes me know how
to mix the pictures with the music. It helps me to work on two software and
knowing the importance of the computer because
I don’t like the computer so much. My self-editing skill has been improved because
the editing homework’s make the students looking on their paper from the
teacher sight. This will help the students to know what his teacher want from
him and how to solve the problem. I hoped, we will write on different topic
because the writing on different topic will give us more vocabulary and more
contact with various fields.
Actually, the most difficult thing in the digital story was
the topic which I need to write on. After I selected the topic and wrote the story.
I disappointed by the opinion of my brothers and my sister .They didn’t like
the story and they told me to change it to a more peaceful and beautiful topic
and that make me more sensitive about the topic. Their opinions make me unconfident and unsure
which leads me to write another story but in the same time I was sad about my
story because I like it so much. I gave the second story to my professor meanwhile
I was telling to myself “I hope, he will not accept it and encouraging me to do
the first one”. Next day my professor tells me that “you should do the first
story”. I became so happy and so grateful because he gave me a chance to show
my own ideas about the topic .I asked Yasir to give me an opinion on my final mp4
, he tell me that the title is not shown well. Thus I try to redo the work from
the first to fix the problem .I’m very thankful to his advice. The most
important thing of making the digital story is how to find a suitable picture
to express your ideas. That was a great challenge to me and it take me long
time in searching and imaging the meaning of the picture. I was asking myself
“did this picture is a powerful and meaningful or not” before I select it to
the story .I’m very satisfied about my story and I hoped, I sent a good message
to the audience .Actually , someone tell me that I was so hard on the sunny and
the wahhabism and I didn’t talk about the shiaa militias .I said in before the
ends of my story “finally to be unbiased I should inform that not all the
Wahhabis’ are terrorist and not all the shiaa
are good people “. I think, this is my little fault in my work because I
need to show more about the shiaa terrorism to make the work unbiased to the
shiaa side. I’m sorry about this fault but if the audience are listening to
every sentence they should understand the importance of my last sentence and
they will be satisfied that I’m not biased.

After I took English 106, I know what plagiarism is and how to avoid falling into this situation because in China we do not emphasize this problem. We keep a bad habit from our previous study behavior. I think if we do not change that we will easily plagiarize other author’s article. In United State, if someone is committed plagiarism, he will get a severely punishment from school. I really appreciate that I have learned what is it and how to avoid it form English 106. Also after wrote many essay, I studied how to summary an article from other writer and I improved my English writing skill by revised my essay after professor gave me feedback of my paper. I know how to illustrate my idea and be more native in my paper.

Furthermore, I did a digital story step by step during this course. From making a draft of digital story script to recording voice to making a movie, I study many useful skill and find fun from do this. Especially when I read some comments from my classmates, I found out what is my shortcoming and received some helpful suggestion to revise it. I am quite interesting in combining pictures and voices from my project. It looked like my baby which I looked after it grown up. After I finished it, I feel quite satisfied and I am so proud myself to do this project. In conclusion this course really enhances my ability of doing good at my future study.

        Before I had been high school in Ethiopia, and joined this class, I did not have any idea plagiarism and never heard the word before, but writers and artists are complained copyright. Now this class teaches me a lot of things about plagiarism.One of them from those are the difference between plagiarism and copy right."Jonathan Zitrrain, professor of Law, Harvard Law School" demonstrates that the difference between plagiarism and copy right; to plagiarize is to “to steal and pass off as one's own, and copyright mean take that information and publish it, if you was the writer, you will be punish by law.

         There is another thing I learned from this class is writing an essay. I did learn grammar and vocabulary when I had been high school. But I did not write essays in my school life time. When I started English 106 class, every thing was new for me the teacher gave us a lot of home work and he said to us summarize the passage I confused and got lot of question How can I do it .It was my every day question. But gradually, after I do more exercise and tried fix my weak part I had been successful. So, English106 class thought me to know extra vocabulary words and encourage me to write an essay. Finally I appreciate our English teacher, Mr. Eric Benson .As you know a lot of students in our class are foreigners. English is our second language. We speak broken English. It is hard to understand the accent. But our teacher, Eric, he gives us his time and changed the classes. Again thank you Mr. Eric Benson.

106 class is my first writing class in OSU, I get a lot of thing from this class not only realize in academic and U.S culture. I know how to write our paper in a write way and how to avoid Plagiarism. This is very important because Plagiarism have not remind in China. This class gives me a right way to improve my writing ability. Furthermore I know how to write summary and how to write Blog. Actually, I should be 108 Class student I do not know why my advisor put me 106, but i get a lot of thing in our class. 

Movies maker is new software for me. I like this software because I can make my life movie with this software. Another funny thing is my first time in recording room. I try to record a song in the recording room I like this feel because I found I like a personal singer. In this class I make a lot of friends also.I change my English name again. Now please call me Alex because i found there are most of math professor is Alex. Every day will have a lot of funny in our class. Our professor is very kind in our class. He make friends with us and he know a lot of things about China. In a word, I like this class and I will make writing better in the future.

Offer my thanks and my respect for the professor and to all students. The most important thing I learned is how to accept the opinion of others and take advantage of the criticism of others when making an error in my writings. This, I believe, is the door of success in life. The second thing is how to express and explain the writings of others. Also learned to quote from articles or when searching the Internet. Take advantage also of coca search and how to write articles because they motivate students to read for benefit and thus gives the student cultural background.

For the Digital Story I think it's good but not better. Professor has helped me to strengthen the text and grammatical problems that I faced. I want to apologize for my class about the error that occurred in the presentation of the story because it did not show up as full.I Made the decision for title to the story with the help of Professor. It was awonderful idea and interest for all friends. It was good thinks to share experiences of work and the thinks I gained

The first question that I chose is the question number 1. This question is about if I have a paper assignment to write for a class but the topic is similar to the paper that I have written before for a different class; will I be able to re-summit the paper? In this case, I can just rearrange the paper again and make it a little bit longer so it wouldn’t be the same. However, the best way that I picked is I have to talk to a teacher about the situation first. Another question that I chose is the question number 8. This question is one of the common issues due to plagiarism. It is about if I take some information on the Internet and post it on my class list online; will it consider as a plagiarism? This question is actually not that clear, they do not mention whether I give a credit to the article or not. If I give a credit, it wouldn’t be considered as a plagiarism but if I don’t, it would be a plagiarism.

The first question is actually important to know. To be honest, I am a lazy student and I would resubmit my old paper for sure if I don’t know that it would be considered as a plagiarism. For this case, most people will think that this is their paper and they have a credit for it. However, by resubmitting the paper, student will not get any new education from that class which is the main purpose of taking class. Rewriting a new paper would be a great benefit to a student. For the second question, it reminds students that every time that we use other sources, we have to give a credit to it. It would be super dangerous if we don’t give and a credit, which will lead to a plagiarism case. As a student, it is such a great benefit to know about these rules. Learn since young age so we can avoid making problems in the future.

Even though this class is a writing class; we are actually not only improving our writing skill but also learning about plagiarism. Since everyone in the class came from different cultures, not many people know about plagiarism in American society and might make some mistake in the future. I noticed that the only way to improve a writing skill is to write a lot, and I have written a lot in this class. All the assignments that have given by this class are really helpful to my writing skill. The most challenging thing with an argument essay is to put a right source into a right spot in the essay. To be honest, I’m a good writer even in my own language; thing that I have to improve the most is the idea for an assignment, about what I want to write. By taking this class, it will be a grate benefit to my study career since I have to write many papers for other classes too.

Making a digital story is actually a new thing for me. I had never thought of making any video in my life before. I chose a personal topic about my life that I was not happy with. At first, my story is actually good but I didn’t know how to express it well. After tutoring with professor by telling him what I want to express into the digital story, he helped me re-arrange it and put it into a nice term. Using pictures help other people understand more about what I really want to say; they can feel my feeling more with them. I’m actually pretty proud of myself with this project; I enjoyed making it a lot. I put so much effort into this project in order to make it turns out really well. I wish I could mention about this English class into my story as well since the story is about my in OSU also.

The most important thing of this class is I have more in-depth understanding the meaning of plagiarism. I learned should be how to avoid plagiarism when I writing. Such as, I need to distinguish my ideas and others; when I cite others article need to marked and write the reference list at the end of my article. When I writing the argument essay I think the most important and challenging skill are the article structure clearly and grammar. Only in this way, other people can correct understanding of things I want to say. Revamp the article with each other and the professor’s feedback all gave me a lot of help. Since my grammar and self-editing skills has been improved. But I still need to learn more usage of the word, structure of sentence and writing vocabulary to improve my writing skills.

About my digital story, I think this is a very interesting thing. I learned a lot of things in the process of make it. For example, use software recording, make a video from some pictures, video format conversion and so on. Some of these I have never been involved. My professor helps me to retouch the script and teach me how to use the software. The recording is difficult for me. My English speaking is very bad. When I recording I am very worried about and don't have confidence. But I finished it under my classmates’ encouragement. I use a lot of pictures about my hometown. I hope more people know and like my hometown. The music’ name of my story is “very love”. Like the feelings of my hometown. I like my work, except the voice production is not wonderful.

In my opinion, the most important thing what learned in this class is that how to avoid be doubted plagiarism. It’s really different from what I learned in China.  There are a lot of reasons for my opinion. First of all, I have to concede that it’s so easy to get resources from different ways, especially from the Internet. You could be in trouble if you don’t know the right way to cite the sources. For instance, in the article Lives on the boundary, by Mike Rose. She states that the reason why Marita suffered that be doubted that have plagiarism behavior is that she didn’t distinguish her own paper from others. It’s the most important and useful thing when we writing a paper or argument essay. What’s more, I have learned that how to summary a article, however, I think I still more practice to improve it.

It’s very interesting to make the digital story in English class. I couldn’t believe I can make the digital story when the first time saw the video, which the professor shows us. The reason why I choose travelling as my main story is that I’d like to share the story with my friends, which happened in my trip. At first, my script of my digital story is too long to record in 5 minute, and have some grammar mistakes. After the professor gave me some comments and advise, I improve my script of digital story. I didn’t use the software IMOVE before. My teacher and my friends is very patient to teach me how to use it. I use many pictures in my video which I taken during my travelling. In addition, because of there are some conversations in my story I use images that I download from the Internet. As far as I am concerned, my voice and music has been distinguished, but my voice is not totally fluency. If I have other chance to make the digital story, I’d like to write some different thing in my story, talking about some issues what happened around us. Like the digital story of Chaoyi’s.

The most important thing that I learned from this class is how to cite the idea of others. I had totally no idea what plagiarism is, and it will cause that I may plagiarize by accident. For example, I might use other’s word without citing, because I thought that is not big deal. However, after this class, I have clearly known that how to avoid plagiarism. Moreover, I learned that how to write summary. It is also important and practical in the future. I learned the informative sentences and descriptive sentences, and how to use them. After writing a summary, I can edit some grammar mistake by myself. And I also learned how to use software “COCA” to find a more reasonable word. About argument essay, it is the first time I write a one thousand words essay. And I have been a hard time to write it. In the first draft, you cannot see any of logic in my essay. Fortunately, I edited this problem at second draft. However, the tense in the sentence is the problem that I still need to improve.

For the digital story, I changed several topic for it and finally decided to write the memorable story at BSE. Time in BSE is very important for me. In eight days, I changed a lot. In other word, I grow up. I learned the responsibility for a leader. When I wrote the script, I even can imagine what picture I will use for this sentence. However, the first draft described too less about details. This comment makes my digital story more excellent. For the voice, I went to the whisper room twice and got a satisfying voice file and find my favorite music combining them together. I also adjusted elaborately for the picture’s length of time. Finally, I got a well-content work.
