The most important thing of this class is I have more in-depth understanding the meaning of plagiarism. I learned should be how to avoid plagiarism when I writing. Such as, I need to distinguish my ideas and others; when I cite others article need to marked and write the reference list at the end of my article. When I writing the argument essay I think the most important and challenging skill are the article structure clearly and grammar. Only in this way, other people can correct understanding of things I want to say. Revamp the article with each other and the professor’s feedback all gave me a lot of help. Since my grammar and self-editing skills has been improved. But I still need to learn more usage of the word, structure of sentence and writing vocabulary to improve my writing skills.

About my digital story, I think this is a very interesting thing. I learned a lot of things in the process of make it. For example, use software recording, make a video from some pictures, video format conversion and so on. Some of these I have never been involved. My professor helps me to retouch the script and teach me how to use the software. The recording is difficult for me. My English speaking is very bad. When I recording I am very worried about and don't have confidence. But I finished it under my classmates’ encouragement. I use a lot of pictures about my hometown. I hope more people know and like my hometown. The music’ name of my story is “very love”. Like the feelings of my hometown. I like my work, except the voice production is not wonderful.

In my opinion, the most important thing what learned in this class is that how to avoid be doubted plagiarism. It’s really different from what I learned in China.  There are a lot of reasons for my opinion. First of all, I have to concede that it’s so easy to get resources from different ways, especially from the Internet. You could be in trouble if you don’t know the right way to cite the sources. For instance, in the article Lives on the boundary, by Mike Rose. She states that the reason why Marita suffered that be doubted that have plagiarism behavior is that she didn’t distinguish her own paper from others. It’s the most important and useful thing when we writing a paper or argument essay. What’s more, I have learned that how to summary a article, however, I think I still more practice to improve it.

It’s very interesting to make the digital story in English class. I couldn’t believe I can make the digital story when the first time saw the video, which the professor shows us. The reason why I choose travelling as my main story is that I’d like to share the story with my friends, which happened in my trip. At first, my script of my digital story is too long to record in 5 minute, and have some grammar mistakes. After the professor gave me some comments and advise, I improve my script of digital story. I didn’t use the software IMOVE before. My teacher and my friends is very patient to teach me how to use it. I use many pictures in my video which I taken during my travelling. In addition, because of there are some conversations in my story I use images that I download from the Internet. As far as I am concerned, my voice and music has been distinguished, but my voice is not totally fluency. If I have other chance to make the digital story, I’d like to write some different thing in my story, talking about some issues what happened around us. Like the digital story of Chaoyi’s.

The most important thing that I learned from this class is how to cite the idea of others. I had totally no idea what plagiarism is, and it will cause that I may plagiarize by accident. For example, I might use other’s word without citing, because I thought that is not big deal. However, after this class, I have clearly known that how to avoid plagiarism. Moreover, I learned that how to write summary. It is also important and practical in the future. I learned the informative sentences and descriptive sentences, and how to use them. After writing a summary, I can edit some grammar mistake by myself. And I also learned how to use software “COCA” to find a more reasonable word. About argument essay, it is the first time I write a one thousand words essay. And I have been a hard time to write it. In the first draft, you cannot see any of logic in my essay. Fortunately, I edited this problem at second draft. However, the tense in the sentence is the problem that I still need to improve.

For the digital story, I changed several topic for it and finally decided to write the memorable story at BSE. Time in BSE is very important for me. In eight days, I changed a lot. In other word, I grow up. I learned the responsibility for a leader. When I wrote the script, I even can imagine what picture I will use for this sentence. However, the first draft described too less about details. This comment makes my digital story more excellent. For the voice, I went to the whisper room twice and got a satisfying voice file and find my favorite music combining them together. I also adjusted elaborately for the picture’s length of time. Finally, I got a well-content work.

The most important things I learned is how wide the range of plagiarism is. Ar the beginning of the class I just believed that I know everything about plagiarism and I would never accuse by it. However, I was totally wrong. At that time, plagiarism for me is just about copy other's homework, forget cite the resources, and use whole paper without credit. After learning the situation Marita and Aurora, I recognize that we should not only cite some statistic data, but also the abstract ideas. Moreover, we should mark different with other's ideas. I know deeply about the plagiarism. Farthermore, I learn that out ideas may be weak without evidences. I try to refer other's idea to strong my ideas and it works well for my paper. However, I found really difficult for me to find the evidence to prove my statement on opposite. I can't deny that it really help us to thinking completely. Although I improve my logical thinking, I still have to work on my writing skills and word accumulation.

For my DST, I really had a hard time to work for it. At the beginning, I have no idea what topic I want to write about. Finally, I decide to write a friendship story. I have no confident finish the job perfectly. I desire to make my file like a experts level. I was so pressure that even refuse to begin my work. However, the process of making film was really interesting, which release my nervous. I gradually realize how stupid and childish my worry is. That is because the aim of film is to show our real emotion and feeling instead of capability showing off. As a result, I work for the basic step, I choose the pictures and edit my record. Putting them together. I feel pretty satisfy with my work.

The most important topic in EDU 106 is plagiarism. I have learned how to avoid plagiarism and how to cite other sources properly. For example, in Lives on the Boundary, the author, Mike Rose presents a situation in which a student is involved in the boundary of plagiarism. By the example that Marita is accused by plagiarism, I know that I can’t combined some words and sentences from old encyclopedia. When I want to use other’s ideas or points, I should paraphrase the original sentences. Paraphrasing is really a difficult problem for me, I always have some mistakes about verb tense and propositions. In the future writing study, I will do my best to avoid these mistakes.

For my argument assignment, I think the most difficult challenge is how to find proper examples and other sources to support my argument, especially find a specific case. I spend much time to find enough proper examples for my argument essay.

I cost the whole quarter to finish my digital story. At the beginning of the quarter, I worked for my script to make sure my story is interesting. Then, I recorded for my story. I recorded three times in total to let me satisfied with my voice. At last, I found interesting and proper pictures on the Internet to make my digital story understood by audiences easily. Fortunately, when I finished my project, I love it. I believe I do my best for it!

The most important skill that I have learned in this cause is why and how to properly cite the sources.  Now I know how to use the sources to support my argument. For example, we should use quotation marks to cite the article name while type the book name use italic. The most challenging skill is the work cited. The improvements of my grammar and writing skills are due to the practices. During the continuously practice, I gradually get the feeling of writing and remember the grammar and verbs that I misused before. The tutorials did help me a lot in the aspect of grammar and syntax in writing. I still need to work on the way to find accurate quotations to support my opinion.

When I received the comments from professor, I fixed the errors and tried to understand the reasons. Then I went through the article and found some sentences that can be improved. People’s opinions of the script mostly focused on the organization and the content, like telling more about the reason why the government wants to resist Cantonese. I used the pictures following the time order. In different time period, I used the transition words to connect two paragraphs. The story is good as far as I am concerned, but the music seems to be too weak and the pictures are too much Chinese for comprehension. I have written some explanation in the video to translate the main idea of each photo.
