It cannot be totally denied the positive impact of the internet to the education. Yes, plagiarism seems to be more accessible to students when the internet is commonly used and a lot of data can be easily approached. Provided that the convenience from the internet has been offered, it is now viewed as another form of plagiarism. However, the internet is not as people think as an absolutely harmful invention. It can not be denied that the websites offer students numerous materials of a wide range academic area. If you look at the history, you will find a great revolution of education following the internet technology. “The Project surveyed 754 online youth ages 12-17 and their parents. Teens and parents report that Internet is vital to completing school projects and has effectively replaced the library for a large number of online youth.” (http://www.pewinternet.org/Reports/2001/The-Internet-and-Education.aspx) From this, it is easily found that the way of study changes and focuses on looking up information via the internet instead of library. Additionally, the internet may be a powerful tool against plagiarism. “Since these resources were almost always professionally written, the risk of detection was very high.”(http://www.plagiarism.org/plag_article_plagiarism_and_the_internet.html) This shows that the internet could also be an effective detector of plagiarism depending on how to use it.
