In the recent years, Chinese government public some regulations that attempt to restrict Cantonese to use our own language. The regulations said that the TV and radio programs could not use Cantonese without the permit of the state administration of radio film and television. This is not a measure that respect of our local culture should be. So Cantonese decided to fight for our language .This photo was taken during the demonstration of Cantonese. It shows that people, including me, got together at the entrance of metro station claiming for the right of Cantonese. In the picture, there were over 400 people standing in the square shouting the slogan: “Cantonese is mine! Get out government!” and singing Cantonese song like “Hai Kuo Tian Kong” by Beyong -- a Hong Kong popular rock band. Also, we can see from the photo that some cops were holding a body wall in order to separate the crow.
However, we strongly resisted to them and cheered for the attention that we attracted from the public. To fight for our right, we kept everyone close enough and waited for the journalists to record and publish our appeal. When the journalists came, we began to claim that what we thought the right of Cantonese should have. The conflict between policemen and us escalation and we began to push and shout to other.
This photo was taken by a photographer of “Guangzhou Daily” newspaper and I download it from website. From this picture, we can easily see the conflict between demonstrants and policemen. The explicit picture shows the situation at that moment and records our movement in Cantonese history. That is why it means a lot to me. All in all, I chose this photo because it deeply reflects my feeling and what was going on.

Excellent description of pic.
