self introduction--Chaoyi Du

Hi, everyone. I’m Chaoyi Du and you can call me Calvin. From my name you may know that I came from Canton, China. I was junior student before I transfer to OSU. I am in electrical engineering major. Many people asked me why I did not finish my undergraduate degree in China and come to America for master after that. My answer is “Because I want to.” I somehow lost my enthusiasm of study in China so I thought I should go to a new place to start my school live again. Now I am very well here.

I have lived in my hometown for 22 years and this is my first time to be so far away from my family. Still, I am excited and positive to school live here instead of lonely and sad because I experience lots of things that I never did before. Just few days before school open day, I saw my first snow here! Canton is warm in a whole year and never gets a chance to snow. I cannot help myself praising the beautiful and amazing white world here. Also, I have my first driving near my apartment (keep the secret for me since I have not got a driving license!). During the autumn break, I took a cruise to Caribbean where I swam with baby dolphin for almost an hour!! I can gently touch them, hugged and even kissed them! The most incredible thing is that I rode a dolphin by grasping her fins. In Miami, I watched a live NBA game which is Heats against Magic. I have never imagined that I could be so close to Wade and James. In America, I did a lot of adventures and now it is time to study hard.
